Waving Aspens

While hiking in Maroon Bells, Aspen, CO during the peak of autumn, I was captivated by the golden yellow aspen leaves set against the clear blue sky. They looked like dots scattered across the sky, and whenever the wind blew, the leaves would sway as if waving "hi" at me.

This painting aims to capture that magical moment I experienced among the aspen trees. I hope to evoke the same sense of wonder and playfulness I felt during that hike.

I chose a tall, vertical canvas to emphasize the height of the aspens and to recreate the sensation of looking up at the trees and the sky. I wanted to capture the stark contrast between the golden yellow leaves and the blue sky, depicting the golden dots and conveying the playful nature of the aspen leaves waving "hi" at me. I hope viewers can feel the crisp autumn air, hear the rustle of leaves, and feel the playful energy of the scene. It's my way of sharing that sense of wonder and joy I felt, standing among the golden Colorado aspens.
